SandFest is a dynamic, family-friendly event that celebrates the beauty of Guam’s coastal environment while promoting environmental awareness and community engagement. Organized by the Guam Coastal Management Program in partnership with the Office of the Governor and the Lt. Governor’s Islandwide Beautification Task Force and funded by a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), SandFest brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in a day-long celebration of creativity and conservation.

At its core, SandFest aims to raise public awareness of crucial environmental issues such as beach litter, shoreline erosion, and the importance of green infrastructure. Through a combination of beach and shoreline cleanups, educational booths, and environmentally themed activities, participants learn practical ways to protect our island’s natural resources and build community resilience.

The highlight of SandFest is the coastal and marine-themed Sand Sculpting Competition, where individuals, teams, schools, corporate groups, and community organizations showcase their creativity and skills by building intricate sand sculptures. Professional sand sculptors from off island will also provide onsite demonstrations and workshops, inspiring attendees to connect with nature and express themselves artistically.

Moreover, SandFest serves as a platform for government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations to showcase their environmental programs and initiatives, fostering collaboration and collective action towards a more sustainable future.

Overall, SandFest is not just an event—it’s a movement that empowers individuals andcommunities to take ownership of their environment, celebrate their cultural heritage, and create positive change for generations to come.
